    A)选择题:阅读下面的短文,从ABCD四个选项中,选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案。

A

Recently a Beijing father sent in a question at an Internet forum (论坛) asking what "PK" meant.

"My family has been watching the 'Super Girl' singing competition TV programme. My little daughter asked me what 'PK' meant, but I had no idea," explained the puzzled father.

To a lot of Chinese young people who have been playing games online, it is impossible not to know this term. In such Internet games, "PK" is short for "Player Kill", in which two players fight until one ends the life of the other.

In the case of the "Super Girl" singing competition, "PK" was used to refer to the stage where two singers have to compete with each other for only one chance to go up in competition ranking.

Like this father, Chinese teachers at high schools have also been finding their students' compositions using Internet jargons which are difficult to understand. A high school teacher from Tianjin asked her students to write compositions with simple language, but they came up with a lot of Internet jargons that she didn't understand.

"My 'GG' came back this summer from college. He told me I've grown up to be a 'PLMM'. I loved to 'FB' with him together; he always took me to the 'KPM'," went one composition.

"GG" means Ge Ge (Chinese pinyin for brother). "PLMM" refers to Piao Liang Mei Mei (beautiful girl). "FB" means Fu Bai (corruption). "KPM" is short for KFC, Pizza Hut and McDonald's.

Some specialists welcome Internet jargons as a new development in language.

If you do not even know what a Kong Long (dinosaur, referring to an ugly looking female) or a Qing Wa (frog, referring to an ugly looking male) is, you will possibly be regarded as a Cai Niao!

46. By writing the article, the writer tries to  ________ .

    A. explain some Internet language      B. suggest common Internet language

    C. laugh at the Beijing father         D. draw our attention to Internet language

47. What does the writer think about the term "PK"?

    A. Fathers can't possibly know it.     B. The daughter should understand it.

    C. Online game players may know it.    D. "Super Girl" shouldn't have used it.

48. The examples of the Beijing father and the Tianjin teacher are used to show that Internet jargons ________ .

    A. are used not only online            B. can be understood very well

    C. are welcomed by all the people      D. cause trouble to our mother tongue

49. The underlined word "jargons" means " ________ " in Chinese.

    A. 行话       B. 粗口     C. 歌词         D. 趋势

50. What would be the best title for the passage?

You probably think you will never be a top student. This is not necessarily so, however. Anyone can become a better scholar(学者) if he or she wants to. It is true that you may not be enthusiastic about everything that you study, but by using your time properly you may improve your grades without additional work. Here's how:

Plan your time carefully. When you plan a trip, one of the first things you must do is to make a list of things to take. If you don't, you are almost certain to leave something important at home. When you plan your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. Otherwise, you may forget to leave enough time to complete an important task. After making the list, you should make a schedule of your time.

Find a good place to study. (64)Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios, or televisions! If you can't find such a place at home, find a library where you can study. When you sit down to work, concentrate on the subject! And don't go to the place you have chosen unless you are ready to study.

Scan before you read. This means looking a passage over quickly but thoroughly before you begin to read it more carefully. Scanning a passage lets you preview the material and get a general idea of the content. This will actually allow you to skip less important material when you begin to read. Scanning will help you double your reading speed and improve your comprehension.

Make good use of your time in class. (65)Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teacher says. Sit where you can see and hear well. Really listening in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says. When the teacher gets off the subject, stop taking notes.

Study regularly. When you get home from class, go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher mentioned in class. Read any related material in your textbook. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, scan and read that material, too. This will help you understand the next class. If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.

Questions 60—63 Complete the following sentences or answer the question.

60. According to the passage, planning time includes  ________  and  ________ .

61. A good place to study should be a place where  ________________________ .

62. What's the main use of scanning?

63. The purpose of this article is to tell us how to  ________________________ .

There are a number of special days of the year that are celebrated in different countries. The origins of most of these celebrations are unknown; individual people certainly did not introduce them. However, other days—especially those celebrated in Western countries—often owe their origins to a particular person. One of the most popular is Mother's Day.

Mothers have always been highly regarded in all cultures. The ancient Romans had a festival known as Hilaria, during which children took presents to the temple of the Mother of the Gods. The Christian Church adopted this idea and called it Mothering Sunday. However, this custom was gradually forgotten and had almost died out by the end of the nineteenth century.

Born in 1864 in Virginia, USA, schoolteacher Anna Jarvis believed that children should show gratitude to their mothers for all their love and care. Encouraged by a friend, she wrote to thousands of important people and asked them to support her idea—a special day of the year for thanking mothers. In 1910, the Governor of West Virginia introduced Mother's Day in that state. The date chosen was May 10.  May 10 was chosen because it was the day on which Anna Jarvis's mother had died in 1908. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson made the second Sunday of May the official date for Mother's Day throughout the United States. It is still observed today. Soon after that, there was a Mother's Day International Association and the custom began to be adopted in many countries of the world.

Mother's Day is one of the most popular celebrations around the world. Most celebrations have unknown origins, but Mother's Day began in ancient Roman times as a festival called Hilaria. Christians then adopted it and called it Mothering Sunday. However, it was gradually being forgotten until the early twentieth century when a schoolteacher called Anna Jarvis believed that children should show gratitude to their mothers. She wrote to many important people to get support for her idea. In 1910, Mother's Day was first celebrated in West Virginia. Later President Wilson made the second Sunday of May the official date for the whole country.

B) One possible version:

There are four people in the picture. A girl is learning how to ride a bike. Her parents and her grandmother, being afraid that she might fall off the bike, are trying hard to support her. The mother is even carrying a first-aid box. But with them around her, the girl finds it very difficult to learn. So she tells them to let her ride it by herself.

In our real life, we can see something like that happening everywhere. Parents love their children too much. They take care of everything for them. They don't want them to take any risks. However, by doing so, the parents actually hinder their children from growing up strong and healthy. Parents should know that trees can't grow big and strong in a greenhouse.
